How To: Install.jar Mods

Your description of how to install Java mods is wrong. The reason is that if you put the java file into the mod folder, it will only operate as a basic mode until another one is installed in another section of the “.minecraft.” folder. What I mean by this is:

1. Cut or copy the jar file, but don’t yet paste it. 2. Open the folder for versions and create a new folder based on what you want to name it 3. Copy the jar file into the folder you just created 4. Copy the jar file into the folder again however this time with a brand new name. Open the jar file with notepad. Copy all the text and then exit the file. Delete the copied file 7. Create MINECRAFT (most likely an txt file) and name it exactly the same way as the jar file is named 8. When it is written exactly as the Jar file, save the file with the name as a .json file 9. Open the json file in Notpad and copy the next 10. Start the launcher , and then select the mod you wish to “made.”

10,5. If this didn’t work, do these steps 11. Open the folder for versions. Select the folder you don’t require. If the mod is 1.7.10 you’ll need to locate a folder running 1.7.10 Minecraft version 12. Copy the jar file into the folder you’ve chosen. Rename it exactly to match the json file. Launch the launcher and select the version you want to use.

If you’re unable to locate the folder, go back to the versions folder and look for the folder that was last edited. You can then rename it according to your preferences. I suggest that you rename all files within that folder to exactly the same name as the folder.
